14 Best Product Mockup Generator Websites | Placeit Alternatives

If you’re looking for an online mockup generator to showcase your merch in realistic environments, you’ve come to the right place. Placeit is definitely the go-to vault for a vast selection of mockups. But it’s not the only one.

We’ve prepared a list of the best product mockup generator websites, including free and paid online tools similar to Placeit. Browse the list, pick your favorite, and start designing.

Why Use a Mockup Product Generator?

Mockups bridge the gap between your imagination and reality. They allow you to visualize your creative design or end product in a realistic setting.
This allows you to brainstorm and refine your product concept efficiently, saving you from upfront investment in manufacturing.

And let’s not forget – people prefer buying apparel displayed on real people rather than laid out flat on a surface.

That said, creating mockups from scratch is often time-consuming and relatively expensive – regularly hiring a photographer and a model can weigh too heavily on your budget and leave you with a negative bottom line.

This is where online mockup generator websites come in.

There aren’t many sites like PlaceIt that offer the same volume of templates covering such an extensive range of categories. However, for specific categories, as you can see, there are quite a few high-quality alternatives that will help you boost your sales.

Only one from that list had any desk mat or mouse mat mock ups but they only had two and they were the wrong sizes. The Printify mock up generator only exists when creating a listing, it is not a dedicated Mock Up Generator so it is not editable like it says it is.
Why Printify don’t have decent mock ups is silly really, we create our product listing on Printify then have to spend rediculous amounts of time searching for better appropriate mock ups because Printify’s mock ups generally are not very good, then when we find a mock up that actually fits we normally have to spend time making it fit our products, then we can list.

My issue is that the clothing on PlaceIt doesn’t match the ones I’ve chosen on Printify. So I have to use the Printify models. Short of Photoshop, I don’t know what else to do.

Thanks for the post, but I am wondering that I have to repeat making the design in the mockup generator also aside from the design tool. For example lets say I made a design in Printify, when I have to create mockup in Place-it, I have to recreate the design in Place-it again. Is there a better way to transfer the design from Printify to Place-it? Another issue that I see is in Printify I see I can create patterns in socks, which I cannot see in Place-it !

Please guide when you get a chance !

      Hi there,

If you are creating a text design directly in the mockup generator, you would need to recreate it from scratch through Place-it to create custom mockups. If you are already uploading ready-made designs to our mockup generator, you would just need to upload that design file to Place-it as well to get the custom mockups that you desire.
As for the pattern tool, since it’s a feature in our mockup generator, and our mockup generator only, once you have uploaded a design to it, and created a pattern with it, it will not create a new design in the My files with the patterns. It will only save the original design that was added.
Sadly, Place-it doesn’t have the pattern tool, as it is a third-party app, and we’re not directly associated with them, nor they are connected directly to our platform.
If you want to add a Place-it mockup to your product, you won’t be able to do it directly from Printify, but you would need to upload it straight to the listing on your sales channel, after publishing the product, so we would suggest that you read through our article on Selective Publishing.

I really hope that this helps!
