Is Etsy Plus worth it? It makes sense for Etsy sellers who list or renew 15 or more items a month and already run Etsy Ads. The included credits cover $8 of the $10 monthly fee, bringing the real cost to about $2. Shops that list only a few items and skip ads pay close to the full $10 for branding features that leave search placement unchanged. Listing volume and ad spend decide which side of that line a shop falls on.

Key takeaways

  • Etsy Plus costs $10 per month and is charged to the seller's Etsy payment account.
  • Subscribers get 15 listing credits worth $3 and $5 in Etsy Ads credits each month. Unused credits expire.
  • The plan adds advanced shop customization, restock requests, and unlimited Marketplace Insights searches.
  • Etsy doesn't give any shop higher organic search placement in exchange for a fee, Etsy Plus included.
  • Most new shops get more value from Etsy Standard until they list new products every week.

What is Etsy Plus?

Etsy Plus is an optional subscription service that adds features on top of Etsy Standard, the free plan every Etsy shop starts with. The subscription adds four sets of tools:

  • Monthly listing credits and Etsy Ads credits
  • Advanced shop customization, including carousel banners and a custom color theme
  • Restock requests for sold-out items
  • Unlimited keyword searches in Marketplace Insights

Per-sale costs stay identical across both plans. Subscribers and non-subscribers pay the same 6.5% transaction fee plus payment processing on every order.

How much is Etsy Plus?

A man in a gray beanie and glasses sits at a desk with a laptop and a smartphone, surrounded by boxes and shoes.

The Etsy Plus subscription costs $10 a month. The subscription fee is automatically deducted from the payment account balance as part of the monthly Etsy bill on the same date each month.

To sign up, sellers open Shop Manager, select Settings, choose Your subscription, then click Upgrade under Etsy Plus and Confirm.

Sellers can cancel the Etsy Plus subscription anytime from the same Your subscription page. Access runs until the end of the current billing cycle, and the shop then returns to Etsy Standard.

One exception applies to new shops. Sellers who received Etsy's new-seller onboarding promotion and subscribed during shop setup must keep Etsy Plus for 6 consecutive months to receive a credit for the one-time setup fee.

Etsy Plus benefits

Etsy Plus bundles five active benefits. The listing and ads credits carry a fixed dollar value, while the other three shape branding, demand capture, and keyword research.

Monthly listing credits

Subscribers receive 15 credits each month to create or renew listings. Etsy charges $0.20 per listing. At that rate, the 15 credits are worth $3. Renewals count toward the credits. Shops with many auto-renewing listings use them up without creating any new listings. Etsy resets credits at the start of each billing cycle, and any remaining credits expire.

Etsy Ads credits

Etsy Plus adds $5 a month in advertising credits. Etsy charges per click, and the cost per click varies by listing and by where the ad appears on the site. At the $1 minimum daily budget, the credit funds five days of ads. Shops that already spend $5 or more on Etsy Ads get the credit as a straight discount on spend they'd make anyway.

Advanced shop customization options

Advanced shop customization gives subscribers extra shop layout and banner choices:

  • Carousel banner: Up to four images that shoppers scroll through, each able to link to specific listings or shop sections.
  • Collage banner: A customized banner built from two, three, or four images.
  • Mixed grid: One large featured listing or shop section next to four smaller ones.
  • Color theme: A custom color for the shop information banner and About section.

When sellers cancel, Etsy removes these elements at the end of the billing cycle and doesn't save the uploaded images.

Restock requests

Once sellers enable restock requests, interested customers who land on a sold-out listing can click Let me know when it's back. They receive email notifications when the item returns to stock. Shoppers visiting non-subscribers' shops don't get this option. With Print on Demand (POD), listings rarely sell out. POD shops get less use from this feature than makers with limited batches.

Marketplace Insights

Subscribers get unlimited keyword searches in Marketplace Insights, Etsy's tool for real search data. Sellers use it to check how buyers phrase searches, gauge competition, and find related keywords.

Perks that have ended

Etsy closed new signups for the Hover custom web address discount and the Adobe Express Premium offer on February 21, 2026. Sellers who enrolled before that date keep access for the full offer period. Older reviews also list discounts on custom packaging, custom shipping boxes, custom business cards, and other promotional materials.

Etsy's current Etsy Plus page doesn't list them. Sellers can still buy a custom domain from GoDaddy and order business cards and marketing materials from VistaPrint.

Potential drawbacks of Etsy Plus

A man in a blazer and glasses sitting on a couch, looking at a laptop, reading is Etsy Plus worth it or not.

Etsy Plus brings several benefits, and four limits weigh against them:

  • Credits expire every month. Unused listing credits and the ads credit don't carry over to the next month, and both disappear when the subscription ends.
  • $5 buys a handful of clicks. Etsy Ads run on a second-price auction. Busy categories push the price of each click higher.
  • Search placement stays the same. Etsy states it doesn't offer higher organic ranking in exchange for any fee. Etsy's search algorithm weighs relevance, listing engagement, recency, and shop quality, and Etsy Plus does not add organic traffic on its own. More traffic still comes from product photography and Etsy SEO.
  • It's an additional cost. The $10 comes on top of listing, transaction, payment processing, and Offsite Ads fees.

Is Etsy Plus worth it? Do the math

What is Etsy Plus, and is it worth it for a specific shop? When fully used, the listing credits ($3) and ad credits ($5) return $8 of the $10 fee. That leaves about $2 a month for the branding tools, restock requests, and Marketplace Insights.

Monthly activityCredit value usedEffective monthly cost
15+ listings or renewals, $5+ on Etsy Ads$8$2
15+ listings or renewals, no ads$3$7
Five listings, no ads$1$9
No new listings, no ads$0$10

The ads credit only counts as savings when the shop would spend that $5 on Etsy Ads anyway.

When Etsy Plus is worth it

Etsy Plus earns its fee for sellers who:

  • List or renew 15 or more items a month
  • Already run Etsy Ads with a budget of $5 or more
  • Want a branded Etsy shop with a carousel banner, featured collections, and restock alerts for limited items

Sellers who call Etsy Plus a game changer usually point to the carousel banner and restock alerts. Both pay off most for shops with repeat buyers and small-batch products.

When it's not worth it

Etsy Plus costs more than it returns for sellers who list fewer than about 10 items a month, don't run ads, or don't expect branding to increase sales. Banners only reach shoppers who visit the shop home. Email marketing can replace restock requests at a lower cost.

Is Etsy Plus worth it for new sellers and beginners?

Is Etsy Plus worth it for beginners? For most, it can wait. New shops can't start an Etsy Ads campaign during their first 15 days. Part of the first ads credit goes unused as a result. Few new sellers post 15 listings a month at the start, either. Starting on Etsy Standard and upgrading once listing volume climbs helps them save money. The exception covers sellers who launch with a large catalog, especially if Etsy offers them the set-up fee promotion.

List more products on Etsy with Print on Demand

A person holding up a green hoodie with the words "POSITIVE MINDSET" printed on the front.

Print-on-demand sellers add new designs without buying stock. That steady listing activity puts all 15 monthly credits to use.

Printify connects to an Etsy shop in a few clicks. Sellers sign up, open Manage my stores, select Etsy, and click Grant access. Sellers then publish designs from more than 2,000 products to their Etsy store.

Printify imports each order and sends it to a Print Provider for production. Since the merger, Printify merchants also have access to Printful's in-house production. The same products can be sold on eBay and other marketplaces from a single Printify account.
